One of the most appealing characters on UFO, Lieutenant Gay Ellis almost never made it on the show at all! Her character was cobbled together after another actor who was hired to play the Moonbase Commander was fired after several days of filming. Actress Gabrielle Drake was originally hired to play Moonbase Operative Paula Harris, but was quickly promoted and given a new character name just a few days into the production of the series.
